Welcome
Welcome to the Christmas Miracle Triathlon Tournament III (CMTT3). This is a friendly game tournament open to everyone*. Here's what you need to know:
So read the rules, tell your friends, sign up below and join the discord channel, and lets have some fun!
Registration will be open until Sunday February 12th 11:59pm PST. (Registration Closed)
The group stage will be held on Saturday February 18th at 12pm PST.
* Unless your username resembles the name of a large water-bottling company.
- All of the games are free to play - you wont spend a dime on this event.
- Pick your own teammate, or not! - This tournament is played in teams of 2. You can team up with your buddy, or offer yourself up as a free-agent to be paired with other mercenaries.
- This will be an accelerated format compared to previous Triathlon tournaments. It will take place entirely on 1-2 days. Please read the Timing section below for details on your time commitment and schedule!
- We're not pro's - We're playing three games of very different genre's for a reason. Chances are most people will not be experts in each type of game. Many of us will never have played some of the games before registering for the tournament! All skill levels welcome.
- It's still competitive, that's what makes it fun - We will end registration well before the first matches begin. This will allow teams to strategize and practice (and download the games) a little bit before we begin.

Timing
Unlike previous tournaments, we want to encapsulate this event mostly on a single day. This means that each individual match will run much faster and there will be fewer matches overall.
Time Commitment:
Time Commitment:
- We estimate that each competitor should expect 1-2 hours on the day of the group stage.
- For the winners of the group stage, we expect the final match to take approximately 1 hour.
- If finalists are present and available on the day of the group stage, we may move ahead with it on the same day. Otherwise, we will schedule the finals at the earliest convenience of the participants.
- Upon registering, all competitors must be available for the duration of the group stage.
- Registration closes about a week before the group stage takes place, at which time the match schedule will be published and you will know when your matches will take place.
- We encourage everyone to stick around, watch the games and trash talk (in good humor) your fellow competitors, but you only need to be present for your match times.
- Matches will be scheduled based on an average estimated time for each game, with extra leeway for transitions and getting into match lobbies. This estimate for the group stage is 30 minutes per match.
- There is a reasonable chance matches will run slightly faster or slower than this estimate, so we encourage people to be present early, in case we can continue to the next round sooner.
- The tournament format and timing are subject to change based on the number of players that register. Any changes will be announced soon after registration closes on the Discord channel.
- The group stage will begin on Saturday February 18th at 12pm PST.

General Rules

Overall Format & Tournament Rules
- The group stage will be round-robin. E.g. if we have 6 teams total, there will be two groups of 3 teams and each team will play 2 matches in the group stage.
- The finals will have an extended format, where instead of 1 round of each game, teams will play best 2 out of 3 rounds in each game.
- Tie breakers - this is very unlikely, but just in case... In the event of a tie in the group stage, it will be resolved as follows:
- If two teams have an equal score, the winner of the match between them will be the winner.
- If more than two teams are tied, follow the proceeding rules until there is either one winner, or only two tied teams remain, at which point follow the above two-way tie-break rule.
- If three or more teams tie, each team will be assigned a score based on the decisiveness of each game they played. Their score will be added together and the team with the highest score wins:
- Halo Infinite: (<your-score> - <enemy-score>) / 80
- MultiVersus: (<your-ringouts> - <enemy-ringouts>) / 4
- Slapshot: Rebound: (<your-goals> - <enemy-goals>) / 3
- Halo Infinite: (<your-score> - <enemy-score>) / 80
- If two teams have an equal score, the winner of the match between them will be the winner.
Per-Match Rules
- For the group stage, each team will have a scheduled time slot during which they will compete. The schedule will be published after registration closes. So you will only need to be present for you approximate 30 minute time slot. Should your team make it to the finals, that match will take an estimated 60 minutes.
- Each Team must be present in the Triathlon Discord channel at the scheduled time of their match. Each team has a maximum 10 minute grace period to deal with small technical problems (e.g. someone requires a computer re-start). If a team is not present and ready to play after that grace period, their team will forfeit the match.
- Each match in the tournament will be decided by a team winning best 2 out of 3 games.
- Every match will begin with a "coin toss". The team that wins the flip gets to select the first game the teams will compete in.
- Competitors will launch the game and set up their match as seen above in the per-game details.
- The team that loses the game will select the next game to be played out of the remaining options (cannot play the same game twice).
- After two games, if the teams are tied at 1 win, the final game will be played to determine the winners.
- Each win in the group stage will grant one point to the winning team.
General Rules
- You MUST have downloaded, installed and patched all of the above games before your match begins. If any member if your team has not done so and cannot enter the match game lobby within the allotted grace period after the start time of your match, your team will forfeit.
- You MUST have done any initial setup required in each game before your match begins (e.g. gone through the required tutorial if there is one). You will not be allotted any additional time to do tutorials or set up custom control schemes.
- Any disputes between teams will be resolved by TypicalToast or SargentAngle - the tournament administrators.
